The "mother of all smokescreens"

Galloway slams U.S. justice as he rejects charges May 17, 2005

Galloway takes on US oil accusers and Explosive showdown in Senate May 17, 2005

..He came "not as the accused but as the accuser".
British MP Delivers Blistering War Critique May 18, 2005

The United States Senate has declined to make the transcript of Mr. Galloway's testimony available. Here it is. May 21, 2005

.Galloway

PS (Thanks to a comment by Evelyn)
"Indeed, the neo-con team is brazenly acting as if Saddam did something wrong in selling Iraqi oil in violation of the United Nations embargo that we insisted by kept on for a dozen years after the 1991 Gulf War. The U.N. resolution did not prohibit Baghdad's sale of oil! It prohibited its purchase by U.N. members. When it came to the problems associated with the embargo that affected Jordan and Turkey, both of which depend on Iraqi oil, by now every member of Congress knows that both the Clinton and Bush administrations turned a blind eye to the so-called "illegal sales," or they would have had to come up with the oil from other sources.

Who is this site for?

Galloway: BRAVO!!!!!!!!
(I didn't know there were politicians who told the truth.)

Galloway v the US Senate: transcript of statement

US 'backed illegal Iraqi oil deals'

In fact, the Senate report found that US oil purchases accounted for 52% of the kickbacks paid to the regime in return for sales of cheap oil - more than the rest of the world put together.

"The United States was not only aware of Iraqi oil sales which violated UN sanctions and provided the bulk of the illicit money Saddam Hussein obtained from circumventing UN sanctions," the report said. "On occasion, the United States actually facilitated the illicit oil sales."

What we have "achieved" in the last 15 years.

OK in other words there is no innocent party but good thing is Saddam is gone and real Iraqis can now govern us.
I like Mr Galloways and respect him but he lashed out at new Iraqi government and that was wrong and not justified, they are just doing best job they can under difficult situation. They risk their lives to help Iraq and that should be appreciated greatly.

Saddam government people killed to rule Iraq and new government people die to lead and help Iraq. Mr Galloways should remember these things

To all of you who still doubt Imperial US:

I'm URGING you to watch the above video because it shows a very important point about the political discourse -- or what passes for it -- in the U.S. today.

Unlike the so-called Democratic (sic.) "opposition" in America, who simply present a kinder, gentler face of fascism, corporate comprador-capitalism, militarism, adventurism, religious fanaticism and jingoism, Mr. Galloway isn't at all afraid to stand boldly in front of an American witch hunt committee (this particular one wanted to crucify him for "taking money from Saddam" -- wait until you hear how he shoots this one down in technicolour flames) and tell them that they are all liars, fools and war criminals.

Which they demonstrably are, except you can't say that in the "mainstream" American media.

Oops! Somebody forgot to tell Galloway that you can't do that.

What I thought very revealing was the reaction of the Republican inquisitors who seemed stunned at being called what they really are, in public, on TV.

Just like bullies who are used to lecturing timid, cringing opponents who aren't sure of their positions, they expected a lamb to the slaughter. Instead, they got their heads handed back to them by a very hungry U.K. symbol of monarchy (roarrr!).
(Too bad it was metaphorically instead of literally.)

Unlike the Democrats, who ARE part of the American upper class, Galloway isn't afraid to speak truth to power.

Tune in to the video to see it in action.

I watched the complete inquisition. I am pleased that Galloway made mince meat of these ridiculous fascist senators. It is about time that someone out-manoeuvered them. I have an awful feeling that this was Blair's way of trying to "get one over" on Galloway for ousting MP Oona King from a London Labour stronghold during the election. Of course, that is only conjecture. I think Tony and George must have a "hot hot-line" between Downing St and the Whitehouse.
I am no great fan of Galloway, but I much prefer him to the despicable Tony Blair whom I am sure was spawned from the "The Blob" (anyone who has seen the B movie will know what I mean). I would like to push Blair's teeth so far down his throat that he would need a shove a tooth brush up his arse to clean his teeth (apologies to the ladies on the site for the rudeness).
American politics may be more brutal than British politics but British politicians are far more shrewd and quick-witted. I am glad to make that particular sweeping generalisation.

Galloway said Tariq Aziz was "a dear friend" of his...that's well dodgy if you ask me. Birds of a feather and all that. There was definitely something going on when he visited Tariq Aziz all those times....I mean why did they meet so regularly? To play pool? Comon something smells fishy

The Stupidity of George Galloway's Enemies

"Kickbacks indeed. They saved our lives."

"George Galloway disappears" states correctly of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security, "Curiously there is no record of what GG said."

Eventhough many people, including me, admire Galloway's tough stance against the US senate. I think we should be careful in lending too much admiration. He was afterall, as he admitted, "friends" with certain notorious regime members. This alone makes me very hesitant to lend him too much support.
Rumsfeld was once "pally" with the regime and look what we know about him now.
Caution advised, as they say on the packet!

Seafordian -
Considering all the lying, murderous cleptothugs in the public arena passing themselves off as pseudo-human beings , allow me a minute of joy!

George had gloves off all the way through and it was great.
I was lying on the floor laughing when he called Hitchen a booze soaked Trotskyite

You're a drink-soaked former-Trotskyist popinjay," Mr Galloway informed him. "Your hands are shaking. You badly need another drink," he added later, ignoring Mr Hitchens's questions and staring intently ahead.
"And you're a drink-soaked..." Eventually Mr Hitchens gave up.

"You're a real thug, aren't you?" he hissed, stalking away.

George a thug? Never!

Evelyn how do you know that Galloway told the truth? Do politicians ever tell the truth?

Heido I saw that clip of Gallwoay on CNN only yesterday and I gotta say it made for great entertainment. That fella, Hitchans? he didnt know what to do at all. What I hate to see is reporters like him hound people to death...Hitchans got what he deserved...if he cant take it, he shouldnt give it!

Athiest -
Good question: "Do politicians ever tell the truth?"
Regarding Galloway's testimony, were there parts of it in particular that gave you pause to wonder?

Yes, he did fail to give a few straight yes or no's to certain questions. Watch the interview again.

Athiest -
I agree that toward the end (re the source of his political funding) he employed the politicians tactics! But generally I thought him spot on, and a h--- of a lot better than anyone else I've seen in recent memory!

An Exclusive Interview with George Galloway

But Galloway slipped up....why did he accuse that Democrat senator of supporting the war? he did not. Galloway was too fast with the mouth

Galloway, Israeli spies and more:
"Back in November of 2003, Galloway revealed that four members of the U.N. weapons inspection team were actually Mossad spies ."

Galloway tongue-lashes Coleman:
"George Galloway was correct when he called the Coleman Committee the "mother of all smoke screens." Major political contributors and friends of Bush not only paid illegal kickbacks to Saddam Hussein but personally profited from sanctions-busting with Iraq. Those involved in the scheme included individuals who date back to the Reagan/Bush 41 "cluster bombs and biological and chemical weapons-for-oil" scandal of the 1980s. Galloway is correct when he stated that there is enough evidence on Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair and their neocon advisers to park them in prison cells in The Hague for an awfully long time."
