US soldiers killed Bassam Al-Bir ... ألف رحمة على روحك يا عراقي يا بسّام البير

On Saturday, July 2, 2005, scared to death U.S. soldiers cold-bloodedly killed the ailing 62 years old Bassam Al-Bir in his car.
A well known architect, a life-long true friend and an honorable man.
His assistance in escaping Jafar D Jafar to the Syrian border is most worthy of his nobleness.

Dear Imad,

Words are inadequate

I have sat searching for words to address the loss of your friend Bassam Al-Bir and failed to find in my heart or head any close to addressing another wicked, appalling murder.

I cannot imagine how any Iraqi manages to wade through the sea of tears and pain each day brings.

Justice lies dead at the feet of America's mad, mindless folly and
invading, criminal thugs.

Thoughts and love are another inadequacy, but you and your family have them from me.

Dear Imad,

Yet another catastrophic loss, deeply personal as so often has been the case. Knowing what it means to be so violently and senselessly deprived of a dear and nationally valuable friend, I feel with you with every stringe in my heart.

Indeed, our hearts have been bleeding since the first trigger-happy US pilot came to liberate us by dropping a destructive bomb on the house of an innocent, unsuspecting Iraqi family. The tragedies are accumulating to an unbearable level: 100, 000 innocents fallen and still counting.

But if it is any consolation, I, and hundreds of thousands of others, deeply feel that the heroic Iraqi people who in time past absorbed the historic destructive force of the Moguls and Tartars and truned them into friends and allies, will triumph again and become a liberating force for the entire nation.

Please accept my heart-felt condolences.

This simply cannot go on - what can we do to help ?

What a great loss of a true Iraqi and a good friend.

Two weeks ago he was in my home where I read for him the last fantastic poem of Baghdad, by our great poet Abdul Razaq Abdul Wahed.

He kept on crying and weeping, in the end I had to stop and gave him a copy to read at home.

This is the second loss in one year of good friends.

It seems that these bloody Americans are going to finish us up.

With the rate of 50-60 people killed a day under their occupation no one will be left in our beloved country.

May God rest his soul in peace.

I cannot presume to know the depths of Iraqi agony over either the loss of individual friends or the collective horror befalling your land and people. But I can express my shame over the fact that the source of what you endure lies in my own country. My hope is that one day there may be healing - and restitution.

From an Iraqi citizen to the American people

Mr Imad I am so very sorry for this poor man and his family. I hope they find peace soon. I am also sorry for you, his friend. I am thinking about you Mr Imad.

Love
Heidi

Imad,

Its shocking when it happens to someone so close to you; and an original character to boot.

The picture of young Bassam and you will be treasured by your friends.

Imad

My condolences on the loss of your friend.

I think you know this is not personal or national. It is out of the control of rational people.

I know it would be worth my life to walk 2 meters down a Baghdad street. That is not about ideology.

It is about exploiting race, gender, and creed in ways that can be used to discriminate or inure. If we all looked identical this would be much harder.

Dear Imad,

Often I find myself helpless in front of a very disheartening situation .. such as the loss of a dear person.

As one of your friends said above :' Words are inadequate.'

Ironically, it applies to many many Iraqi souls killed maliciously by a mean occupying power and its local agents.

It seems our seas of sorrow, pain and anger are not yet content with what have been pouring .. from one border to another across our nation.!

No matter how long it will take .. Arab's free conscience will rise, and will haunt the occupiers, their agents and the infidels.

My deep condolences to you, your family, and all free Arab minds.

Dear Imad,

My condolences on the loss of your dear friend. It's apparent what's happening to Iraq and its people now.

It's not about a ruling dictatorship but it's about draining Iraq from its scientific community and the complete destruction of all aspects of its infrastructure that Iraqis built all these years, for the agenda of the neo-cons and Israel, only this time, an occupying power is on the ground to make sure Iraqis won't be able to breath on their own again!

Iraqis will not be defeated.

Dear Imad,

What a shock, still can not believe it, what is happening to this world... law of the jungle rules in the name of democracy, how evil it is.

Bassam was so dear to us all. He was a really special unique friend, more like family and very much part of my memories of the good days in Baghdad.

He was a wonderful friend, without his help and the constant care and attention that he gave my sister after the 1990 invasion when she was stuck in Baghdad she would have not survived mentally...He arranged for her and Mother to leave just before the Bombing... He was truly one of a kind and his friendship, charm and humour will be very much missed and certainly never forgotten....

What a waste,,,

Love

My dear Imad,

The loss of any Iraqi is indeed painful. So, how much more painful does it feel if he is a loved one!!

Do not grieve my friend. The Heroic Resistance is taking revenge for all our dead.

Sooner than later, the conservative tyrants and their puppets will be swept into the dustbin of history.

Mark my word; the Americans people will prosecute Bush + Co. for the irrepairable damage they brought on their country.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Abu Charles.

Dear imad,

Sorry for not replying sooner, for only today I was conected to my email and the Internet.

I did not attend his funeral ceremonies, because I was in Amman.

The way he was killed is that he was going to have a haircut at 12 noon.

He passed an merican convoy, they shot him from the back, the bullet passed the trunk of his car, the back and front seats and then exploded in his back, cutting the shirian al abhar (main heart artery) in his heart.

We lost a very close friend.

Dear Imad

Bassam Al-Beer doesn't have an Ambassador in the U.N. as a cousin.

Who is going to investigate his death?

Or, perhaps more likely, his death is going to be swept under the carpet by people like Samir Al-Sumaida'ie and his associates!

Amo Imad,
Again we lost a real friend.
(elba8ya be7ayatak).
I'm afraid to say that i feel the circle has become smaller and one day we will have no dear ones in this very stupid life.
May God bless him and all the Iraqiiiiiiiiiiii people inshallah. :(

Very truly yours, Kumait Talib Albaghdadi.
