I just got back from cycling trip in Sussex today to find that great anti-Iraq war MP Robin Cook has died... he was only 59.... he had a lot of integrity for standing up against Tony Blair and cabinet in their push for going to war against Iraq. He resigned his position over it but...

it is bitter blow for all those against Tony Blair politically as Robin Cook would always be relied upon to be one of lone figures (along with George Galloway) to stand up to Blair.

He also went to Israel to stand with Palestinians against their occupation.

He was a great man I think it is a big loss he was always trying to enlighten people on how the Iraq war and Tony Blair were lies

The majority of US Army soldiers are Caucasian. The higher in ranks we go the bigger is their proportion. And first of all US Government are mostly Caucasians. Yes Condi and some generals…. USA is still a white, Christian country; even there live people from races. CIA world Facts says :

About religious fanatics and use of religion: The rhetoric of the “resistance” may sound strange in the ears of Americans and Europeans. But equally strange is the US rhetoric in the ears of us Europeans, especially the constant referring to religion and extreme nationalism. Our politicians never speak in that style (well - A. Hitler did). George Bush and other policy makers say in every speech (often several times) God bless America. The US leaders bring up openly their religion and often refer even that God is on our side. (Even when the former Pope was against the War.)

USA is the only one who has used nukes against civil population. Truman said that those nukes saved 250.000 US lives (funny almost the same amount than Japanese died in these attacks). By the way Werner Heisenberg said to Hitler and Speer that the A-bomb could not be developed in the time frame Hitler demanded. So Germany stopped its efforts to build an A-bomb already long time before the end of the war and Heisenberg’s group concentrated to civil use of nuclear energy for the rest of the war.

Hello New in Town, I will miss Robin Cook. He exposed the hypocrisy of the US and UK governments regarding their failure to implement UN resolutions that demanded Israel get out of Palestine. He also destroyed the arguments for the Iraq war by Bush and Blair. We don't have too many MPs like him. Galloway should keep marching on as he is a rare breed.

Cook died on Ben Stack and it does not surprise me that they could not help him. I was in that area 2 years ago mountain biking (that is where I got my first compound fracture)....it is so desolate that if anything goes wrong you are stuffed for medical care.

The number of signatories from this meeting amounts to around 40%. If the Iraqis at that meeting felt strongly enough about supporting their resistance, they would have signed the INFLD.
I can only assume from this that there was indeed a big split in opinions of the people that attended that meeting. This does not surprise me at all. Some parts of the resistance are more of a threat to Iraqis than a benefit. Some factions really fail to target the occupation forces and instead kill Iraqi citizens. They have destroyed pipelines and electricity stations and have forced 99% of the charities who want to help Iraqis, out of the country (by killing their aid workers).

Imad - can you supply the names of those that attended but whom did not sign? It would be interesting to know who did not sign.

One of my most enduring memories from the first Gulf War was seeing Saddam's Generals at a surrender ceremony having to face their Arab brothers led by Saudi Lt. Gen. Khalid Bin Sultan, commander of the Joint Arab­Islamic Force. Even Iraq's Arab neighbours knew what a menace Saddam really was before his military forces were crippled by UN sanctions.

Naturally there are some non-Caucasian decision makers in USA and GB. But still who can one in earnest say that USA or GB are secular multiracial countries, where race, religion and property have no meaning. The power in those countries is tightly in the hands of whites (Jews like Heidi claims, by the way most Jews are Caucasians). A couple of decades ago in USA Afro-Americans had to use “own” schools and busses in some areas. Apartheid you know. Well that is not more the case but the proportion and influence of the minorities is in the power machine still rather minimal.

Well – Jews have certainly huge influence in USA and GB, but can they control the whole society in “items of starting war” I doubt. If it is possible then the Anglo-Americans should not brag about liberating Iraqis, if the war was fought because of Israeli interests and organized by a handful of Jews. Never considered that?

About religion: I do not hate religion (any of them including mine), but I hate when they are used to raise people against each other. It was Heidi who brought up the religion question - the religious fanatics on the side of resistance. My point was to bring up that the religion is also very well presented on “your” side. During the history religion has been the simplest and often used excuse to raise nations against each other.

It is also naïve to say that the religion aspect is not existent in the Anglo-American home front propaganda at whole. The enemy is described as a brutal extremist Muslim, who wants to destroy “us” because “our western values”. So the focus of the relevant point that the Anglo-American countries have invaded and control Muslims area and natural resources is forgotten. They are occupied not “us”.

This propaganda also plays for the purpose, that the enemy can be demonized and simplified, like Germans in WW2 or Communists during the Cold War. When all the resistance is said to be religious fanatics, foreign fighters etc, few of us really understand the real situation or nature of the resistance. A funny incident was a couple of days ago when USA claimed that the resistance gets its “new” bomb technology from Iran. Shia’s giving help to Sunnis’s when on the same time USA tells how peacefull Shia areas are and how glad they are being liberated. Well - some contradictions in the theory that the resistance is “simple”.

Pretending that the Christian God is not present in the speeches of Anglo-American leaders or propaganda and Iraq is not invaded by Christian countries is some sort of “wishful” thinking.

By the way I do not hate “white, religion, USA or GB”, but I do not approve the policy in the “War against Terror”. I would understand of eliminating the core of Al Qaida but I do strongly oppose the idea that USA and GB “liberate” the world starting from Iraq. So far those Anglo-American liberation experiments during the last decades have only created dead, new dictators and chaos. Soviet Union decided in 1939 to liberate the Finnish workers and farmers from the rule of evil Capitalists, who were “told” having mass graves and were a present “threat” to Soviet Union (a nation of then 3.5 million against 160 million – like Iraq against USA - insane). Well we fought and resisted the imperial dreams of the super power. That is one reason that we Finns understand the how Iraqis must feel, when a super power comes to liberate them without asking and with more or less hypocritical excuses.

There are several major flaws with your "Christian caucasian invader and ruler" conspiracy.

---The first one is that many of the caucasian Christians occupying Iraq are merely subordinates. They take the orders from those above.

The first fact that should hit you over the head is that the new Iraqi government, who were complicit in over-taking the leadership from Saddam, are actually IRAQIS (Arabs, Kurds, Christians and others). They conspired with the US in providing the plan to overthrow Saddam. Some of them were there from years ago and some from April 2003. They are collaborators and supporters.

The second fact is that millions of Iraqis risked their life to vote for these same people.

The third fact is this, however much you want to deny it, other Arab nations have helped put the US in the occupational position they are today. There is no sugar-coating this fact. Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi have all helped the US, they are good allies to them and have been in the past.

Also, you must realise who the key figures were, and are, when it comes to aggressive policies toward Iraq and other middle east countries. Key figures matter very much, they plan the attacks and give the orders. They are more responsible than anyone because they send those boys and girls to war. They are the architects of the war. It just so happens that many of those key figures are not white and are not Christian.

These are facts that you cannot sweep aside. Sorry, but you have to take a look at the whole picture.

But the major fact is that the rules for the “parliamentary” process is dictated, controlled and constantly “guided” by USA. Certainly Iraqis risked their life and voted, except Sunnis, and showed their purple finger to USA. They did not choose the option USA wanted and it had supported without shame with millions of dollars. Then there was that strange delay in the counting of the votes that little “corrected” the result in the US direction wanted. Religious Shias did not get the “absolute” majority.

How have Muslim countries helped USA with Iraq? The little emirates did let USA use the bases located there that is all. Jordan let them use their airspace. Saudis and Turkey (even it is not an Arab country) not. Where are the Muslim troops occupying Iraq? One could without sugar coating say that the Arab (and other Muslim) countries have been extremely reluctant to help USA in Iraq with any concrete deeds. A little a… licking in speeches and some zero meaning conferences, that is all. And the support in the streets in Muslim countries is almost zero. No “US ally” Arab leader dears to risk his position by giving “much” support for the occupation.

These are facts that you cannot sweep aside. Sorry, but you have to take a look at the whole picture.:)

You have to examine who created the ideology around the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq. You also have to look at which senior figures pushed that ideology and handed down the lies and orders.

Iraqi citizens themselves have voted in the millions despite the occupation of their country.

It is not a question of trying to deny that some white Christians have invaded Iraq. The crucial point is that many senior and influential figures that planned the war and occupation definitely are far from white and Christian.

You complain that the majority of soldiers serving in Iraq are Christian and white? They are just subordinates serving a purpose who did not make the decision to go to war.

Here is reality: it took a conglomerate of individuals, religions, colours and nations to make the war and occupation happen. Very few of them, despite what you think, will be "fair of hair"

I do not try to find scapegoat for invading Iraq. It was invaded and occupied by white Christian nations, believe it or not. I have not been complaining about that fact BR. It was completely different people who started this line of discussion. I only brought up the fact that White Christians are fighting and occupying Iraq.
You BR (and others) blame the Iraqi exiles, Latinos, Blacks and Jews to having manipulated the white Christian nations to war, but isn’t that just finding scapegoats?

Speaking about white Christians fighting and dying in Iraq is justified. Look at U.S. DEATHS BY ETHNICITY. 73 percent of the dead are white (or actually more because many of the Latinos are white). Certainly at least 90 percent of the dead are Christian. One can draw the simple conclusion, that the share “estimates” are relevant also with the troops in general.

Allawi and the other Iraqis around the occupation could mostly be described as greedy opportunists (Quislings). Their role was to create a smokescreen for the “legality” of the occupation and give “evidence” of the famous WMD’s. And naturally later act as rulers of Iraq like Markos in Philippines and Suharto in Indonesia (to mention a few dictators put in place by USA). These Iraqis certainly did not plan the policy and military actions of USA and their role was minor in all real decision making.

The decision to go to war was made in USA by GB and Congress and in Britain by TB and Parliament. Mostly white Christians as you know. At least at that point the “simple minded” white Christians should have noticed that they are tricked to war by Black, Jew, Iraqi and Latino non Christian "key figures" as you claim. What a theory – hilarious.
 

There is nothing 'hilarious' about people being tricked into a war! That is what is so controversial about this war! The fact that people have been tricked into it!
