Hizbullah fighter downs an Israeli helicopter in Lebanon (video) مقاتل حزب الله يـُسقِط هليكوبتر إسرائيلية

PS: From a Comment by Lauri L on the above video: "Just wanted to point out that the above video is actually old footage from Chechen war. The chopper being downed is Mi-8 or Mi-24 and I have seen it as early as 2001. So, unfortunately, it has nothing to do with Lebanon."

Comments:
Imad,

Are you sure the video showing the shooting down of the helicopter is that of Hizbullah shooting down an Israeli helicopter? Some say that this is a video of Chechen fighters shooting down a Russian helicopters.

Confirmation of authenticity would be appreciated.

Imad,

Are you sure that the video is about Hizbullah shooting down an Israeli helicopter and not of Chechen fighters shooting down a Russian helicopter?

Confirmation of the authenticity would be appreciated.

Tony

Wished you understood Arabic, and Lebanese accent at that.

For had it been so, the exclamations of the fighters would hardly be uttered by Chechens.

Tony is correct. That is not Hizbullah shooting down an Israeli helicopter. That is the Shaheed Al-Khattab, a Saudi born Mujahid shooting down a russian helicopter. No offence Imad, but you need to do more research before posting content on your blog. Of a surety that is Khattab.

No offence Imad, but you need to do more homework before you post content on your blog. Of a surety that is the Saudi-born Shaheed, Al-Khattab shooting down a Russian helicopter in Chechnya. Sorry not Hezbullah.

No offence Imad, but you need to do more research when you post content on your blog. That is not the Lebanese Hezbullah. It's footage of the Shaheed, Al-Khattab shooting down a russian copter in Chechnya.

It would assist if either of you would mention the source of the Chechen information. 'Reseacrch' is a two way street.

Virginia Tilley, Putting Words in Ahmadinejad's Mouth: In this frightening mess in the Middle East, let's get one thing straight. Iran is not threatening Israel with destruction. Iran's president has not threatened any action against Israel. Over and over, we hear that Iran is clearly "committed to annihilating Israel" because the "mad" or "reckless" or "hard-line" President Ahmadinejad has repeatedly threatened to destroy Israel But every supposed quote, every supposed instance of his doing so, is wrong.

The most infamous quote, "Israel must be wiped off the map", is the most glaringly wrong. In his October 2005 speech, Mr. Ahmadinejad never used the word "map" or the term "wiped off". According to Farsi-language experts like Juan Cole and even right-wing services like MEMRI, what he actually said was "this regime that is occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time."

Why Israel Creates a Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine: Palestine is suffering a manmade disaster stemming from a sequence of US backed Israeli actions: military occupation, the wall, the embargo, and now the military invasion. Israel's pretext for these actions has been suicide bombers, captured Israeli soldiers, and rockets fired at Israeli towns. The real purpose appears to be weaken, humiliate, and force out the civilian population so Israel can take over the rest of their land.

Hi Imad,

I thought I'd seen that helicopter video before, but I couldn't remember where. I remember it was part of a series of videos about Chechen rebel activity.
Thanks to the magic of Google I have found a 'dumpalink' link to the same video. It was posted there on April 7 2005. There seems to be some confusion over what it actually shows, but the consensus seems to be that it is Chechen rebels shooting down a Russian helicopter.

If I can find the original site I'll post a link.

Here's hoping you see this, Imad.

A quick search with YouTube with the keyword "Chechens shooting down..." can confirm that multiple users have submitted it as a Chechen Resistance video. If your not convinced, as the camera zoomed in on the first of the choppers, it definetely looked Soviet in design; specifically the MI-17. This bird, an infantry transport chopper, never made it to Isreali shores for obvious reasons. The Isrealis instead use American-issue UH-60 Blackhawks and Chinooks. That helicopter looked like neithier. Googling "MI-17" in Google Images can allow you to compare.

Finally, I simply cannot agree that these fighters have Lebanese accents or speak Arabic. "Atstan" in Russian means to "leave be", probably said to discourage the fighter from discharging his weapon too early. As for that "Lebanese" accent? Place your soft palate close to your tongue and then forcefully breathe out. That's the "ha" letter in Russian. These fighters are unique to Middle Eastern fighters in that they say on camera or off "Allah Ala'ha'bar" in a Russian accent instead of "Allah Achbar" such as in Iraqi resistance videos. It sure surprised me when they conversed in Russian instead of Chechen in Chechenyan resistance videos, even when they are in battle.

Hope this helps.

Kurt Nimmo, Against Total War? You’re an Appeaser of Fascism: Never mind that the unitary decider in the Oval Office hails from a family that violated the Trading with the Enemy Act by “profiting from their Nazi partnerships” during the Second World War, a well established fact revealed by documents in the National Archives and Library of Congress, not that we can expect the corporate media to point out such things.

As Eric Margolis writes, neocons “revel in flag-waving, patriotic melodrama, demonstrations of military power, and use the mantle of patriotism to feather the nests of the military-industrial complex, colluding legislators and lobbyists. They urge war to the death, fought, of course, by other people’s children.

Anwaar Hussain, Oh What Tangled Webs We Weave: ‘Islamic fascism’, this most current war cry of the Neocons, is nothing more than the latest terminological inexactitude on the falling power curve of the Neocons, an ugly last ditch attempt to breathe new life into the fast fading, faltering and dying war steed of the Neocons.

Wayne Madsen, Aug. 31, 2006 -- The clearly demented Donald Rumsfeld [on Hitler Appeasers]: For Rumsfeld to associate the anti-war movement to Nazi appeasers is the ultimate in gall. After all, it was the New York and Chicago-based banker and industrialists who were the Hitler appeasers. And, ironically, they used the American Legion as their fascist storm troopers -- it was proposed that Gerald MacGuire, a former New York City bond and securities dealer with whom Brown Brothers Nazi financier Prescott Bush had more than a casual relationship, organize 500,000 American Legionnaires to march on Washington in the summer of 1933 and militarily overthrow President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. ...

xymphora, Christianity without Christ: Speaking of religion, Simon Cozens proposes ... that American Christianity – referring to what is variously called American Evangelism, Christian Zionism, or Dominionism, and comprising much of mainstream American Protestantism - isn’t really Christianity at all. It seems they’ve taken the goriest bits from the Old Testament, added the Book of Revelations and a smattering of very Aryan and militaristic visual images of Jesus, and purport to call it Christianity. Missing completely is the Four Gospels, as Christ Himself in word and deed is far too radical for them to tolerate. It’s Christianity without Christ. I’d compare it to Satanism, except that would be too much of an insult to the good people who worship the Dark Lord.

US military leaders planning $20m public relations effort to promote more positive Iraq coverage: The proposal calls for monitoring "Iraqi, pan-Arabic, international, and US national and regional markets media in both Arabic and English." That includes broadcast and cable television outlets, the Pentagon channel, two wire services, and three major US newspapers -- The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Los Angeles Times.

Monitors are to select stories that deal with specific issues, such as security, reconstruction, "high profile" coalition force activities, and events in which Iraqi security forces are "in the lead." The monitors are to analyze stories to determine the "dissemination of key themes and messages" along with whether the "tone" is positive, neutral, or negative.

The media outlets would be monitored for how they present coalition or anti-Iraqi force operations. That part of the proposal could reflect Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's oftenstated concern that the media do not cover positive aspects of Iraq.

Religious Leaders' Statement on Christian Zionism: "We Stand for Justice. We Can Do No Other"

"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God." (Matthew 5:9)

Christian Zionism is a modern theological and political movement that embraces the most extreme ideological positions of Zionism, thereby becoming detrimental to a just peace within Palestine and Israel.

The Christian Zionist program provides a worldview where the Gospel is identified with the ideology of empire, colonialism and militarism. In its extreme form, it laces an emphasis on apocalyptic events leading to the end of history rather than living Christ's love and justice today.

We categorically reject Christian Zionist doctrines as false teaching that corrupts the biblical message of love, justice and reconciliation. (emphasis added)
