"The children at the Kids on Fire summer camp are intent as they pray over a cardboard cutout of President George Bush. They raise their hands in the air and sway, eyes closed, as they join the chant for "righteous judges". Tears stream down their faces as they are told that they are "phonies" and "hypocrites" and must wash their hands in bottled water to drive out the devil.
The documentary film Jesus Camp follows three children at the Kids on Fire Pentecostal summer camp in the small city of Devil's Lake, North Dakota.
.... After a television news report about the film became a hit on YouTube.com, it attracted media attention across the country and opens in Los Angeles today.
... At one point Pastor Fischer equates the preparation she is giving children with the training of terrorists in the Middle East. "I want to see young people who are as committed to the cause of Jesus Christ as the young people are to the cause of Islam," she tells the camera. "I want to see them radically laying down their lives for the gospel, as they are over in Pakistan and Israel and Palestine."

"Millions of Evangelical Christians around the world support and constantly pray for the state of Israel, representatives at a meeting of the Knesset's Christian Allies Caucus said Wednesday.
Dozens of Evangelical pastors, parliament members, and leaders from an array of countries gathered at the Knesset in Jerusalem to proclaim their support for the country, during a meeting of the Caucus, which was also attended by Knesset Members from across the political spectrum.
"We see Israelis as our spiritual mothers and fathers. It's an honor for us to be here," Pastor Norman Miller of Australia told Ynetnews. "We love your God, Israel," Miller told the meeting, to a round of warm applause.
"The line between the political and the biblical is disappearing," Josh Reinstein, Director of the Caucus, told the meeting. "Around the world, we see the rise of radical Islam come against our Judeo-Christian values, and we must meet it with a well organized response," Reinstein said. "We formed the Christian Allies Caucus to coordinate cooperate and communicate with our Christian allies around the world… we want to work with you, and we thank you for your support," he told delegates.

Hail the 'Liberators': "HalliburtonWatch has obtained the first video of an ambush against a Halliburton convoy in Iraq that resulted in the deaths of three truckers who worked for the company's KBR subsidiary.
The video, shot on Sept. 20, 2005 by KBR truck driver Preston Wheeler, shows what initially appears to be a routine convoy of sixteen-wheeler trucks delivering supplies to U.S. troops.
But the convoy enters tiny Iraqi towns along the highway and children begin throwing rocks at the trucks."

Kurdish authorities have been using Israeli personnel to train security forces in Iraq, the BBC's Newsnight programme has found. (First Broadcast on September 19, 2006)

"When the former Israeli special forces soldiers were sent to Iraq in 2004 they were told they would be disowned if they were discovered.
Their role there was to train two groups of Kurdish troops.
One would act as a security force for the new Hawler International Airport (near Erbil) and the other, of more than 100 peshmerga or Kurdish fighters, would be trained for "special assignments", according to one of Newsnight's interviewees.
Contractors
An Israeli security consulting form called Interop acted as the main contractor for the Hawler airport project and set up two subsidiaries (Kudo and Colosium) to carry out work in Iraq.
Kudo and Colosium described themseleves as Swiss-registered companies. One of the founders of Interop, and its Chairman until 2003, was Danny Yatom, a former Head of Mossad - the Israeli foreign intelligence service and now an MP.
He told Newsnight today: "I was not aware of what was done in 2004 and 2005 because I cut all contacts with the company when I entered the Israeli parliament in 2003."
During 2004-5, Interop and Kudo were run by Shlomi Michaels, a former head of Israel's counter-terrorist unit. Contacted by Newsnight, Mr Michaels declined to comment."
Kurdish soldiers trained by Israelis September 20, 2006

These kind of speculations have been around in the region for more than 30 years." "Don Rumsfeld is fond of historical analogies when pontificating about Iraq; he particularly favors comparisons to the Nazi era and the Allied occupation of Germany after World War II. Unfortunately, any historian will tell you that Rummy's parallels are invariably false, even ludicrous. So we thought we'd give the beleaguered Pentagon warlord a more accurate and telling analogy to chew on.

Try this one, Don. Imagine that British occupation troops in, say, Hanover, had been forced to abandon a major base, under fire, and retreat into guerrilla operations in the Black Forest - in 1948, three years after the fall of the Nazi regime. And that as soon as the Brits made their undignified bug-out, the base had been devoured by looters while the local, Allies-backed authorities simply melted away and an extremist, virulently anti-Western militia moved into the power vacuum.

What would they have called that, Don? "Measurable progress on the road to democracy?" "Another achieved metric of our highly successful post-war plan?" Or would they have said, back in those more plain-spoken, Harry Truman days, that it was "a major defeat, a humiliating strategic reversal, foreshadowing a far greater disaster?"

You'd have to wait a long time - perhaps to the end of the "Long War" - to get a straight answer from Rumsfeld on that one, but this precise scenario, transposed from Lower Saxony to Maysan province, unfolded in Iraq last week, when British forces abandoned their base at Abu Naji and disappeared into the desert wastes and marshes along the Iranian border. The move was largely ignored by the American media, but the implications are enormous. The UK contingent of the invading coalition has always been the proverbial canary in the mine shaft: if they can't make a go of things in what we've long been told is the "secure south," where friendly Shiites hold absolute sway, then the entire misbegotten Bush-Blair enterprise is well and truly FUBAR (Translation: Fucked Up Beyond Any repair).

The Queen's Royal Hussars, 1,200-strong, abruptly decamped from the three-year-old base last Thursday after taking constant mortar and missile fire for months from those same friendly Shiites. The move was touted as part of a long-planned, eventual turnover of security in the region to the Coalition-backed Iraqi central government, but there was just one problem: the Brits forgot to tell the Iraqis they were checking out early - and in a hurry.

[ . . . ] Just a few months ago, the UK's Ministry of Defence was churning out "good news" PR stories about life at Abu Naji - such as the whimsical tale of the troop's pet goat, Ben, a lovable rogue always getting into scrapes with the regiment's crusty sergeant major, even though the soldiers "knew he had a soft spot for Ben." The goat, we were told, had enjoyed visits from such distinguished guests as the Iraqi prime minister and the Duke of Kent. Now this supposed oasis of British power has been destroyed, with the Coalition-trained Iraqi troops meant to secure it either fading into the shadows or actively joining in with the rampaging crowds and extremist militias. Meanwhile, the Hussars are reducing to roaming the countryside on vague, pointless, impossible missions, killing time, killing people - and being killed - until the inevitable collapse of the whole shebang.

The goat is gone. The canary is dying. The surrender and sack of Abu Naji is a preview of what's to come, on a much larger scale of death and chaos, as the bloodsoaked folly of Bush and Blair's war howls toward its miserable end.

"What can you do against the United States? It’s a very big country, and it has an arsenal of weapons greater than the next 27 collective armies.

. . . [T]he United States is not as powerful as it’s made out to be. It is, for example, a bankrupt nation. It owes the world 14 trillion dollars, and it is truly able to finance itself and the war and the supply of arms to Israel, through the money that is lent to the United States by rich countries, some of which are Muslim countries. And if you stop using the US dollar . . . you can continue to sell oil, but insist on being paid in euros, or yen, or whatever. If you do that, then the US dollar will not be half the value that it has today, and if it doesn’t have the value that it has today, it cannot spend money producing arms and supporting aggressive actions by the Israelis.

For someone who wants to see warmongers treated as social pariahs, how did you feel when you heard about [Secretary Rice’s recent] visit to Kuala Lumpur, and the way she was received?

Apart from the fact that she [was] visiting Kuala Lumpur . . . to participate in an international forum, I wouldn’t receive her at all. I wouldn’t even shake her hand.

We haven’t mentioned Britain at all and Tony Blair’s role in all this.

Well, that’s the poodle. He’s a satellite of the US. He dances according to the tune played by the US. Britain is a third-rate power now. The only thing that it can [do] is to shine in the light of some other, more illustrious, country. So he wants to be close to the US, to have a little bit of his old greatness, but actually he is just doing the bidding of the US.

Islam Channel viewers might be shocked to hear a statesman like yourself call Tony Blair a poodle. . . . You have no compunction about calling the British prime minister a poodle?

. . . He lied to the British people that within 45 minutes Britain could be attacked by Iraq with weapons of mass destruction, when he knew very well that Iraq did not have that, and later on, he tried to explain by saying that they had to get rid of Saddam Hussein. So, they have decided on going to war, so he didn’t tell the British people the truth. He was a liar. I’ve called him a liar, and I have no compunction about calling him a poodle.

We had a bizarre scene recently where a microphone was switched on, in which the whole world could eavesdrop into the special relationship between George Bush and Tony Blair, and we heard the president of the United States, with a full mouth of food, yell: “Yo, Blair.” . . . How did you view that scenario?

I’m not surprised at all at the way that Bush treats Blair, because Blair actually does everything that he is asked to do by Bush. . . . [The British] think that they have influence [with the Americans], but actually, they have no influence.

Why do you think George Bush and Tony Blair are so afraid of Islam?

. . .[B]y creating the State of Israel, by allowing Israel to occupy Palestinian land, and do all kinds of things to the Palestinians, which angered people, and now because these people want to get back at them . . . so they are afraid, because they may be rich, they may be powerful, they may have atom bombs, but Americans and British are no longer safe anywhere in the world.

In what way? Are you talking individually? You know, passport holders?

They like to give travel advisories – not to go to this country, to that country - which means that they are not free anymore. They have to restrict themselves. They are not able to enjoy the benefits of their wealth, their ability to travel. Their jet planes and all that are useless because they can’t go to certain countries because they fear being attacked. Of course, these people – they cannot attack their military. They will attack anybody else. . . . With terrorists and their unconventional ways, you can never be certain where and how they would strike. So whereas America in the Second World War was totally free from attacks, it is no longer free from such attacks. . . . In Iraq there were no terrorists before - now we have terrorists in Iraq. And now because of this attack on Lebanon, many many new terrorists - so-called terrorists - are going to make that decision that, well, if we cannot fight them with guns and bombs and airplanes and all that, we’ll fight them by killing at random. That is what is going to happen.

We can’t finish with the war on terror until I ask about your views on Osama Bin Laden, what you think of him, and if you think he’s still alive.

I think he is still alive. He is the creation of the Americans, as everybody knows. You play with the devil, then of course, you get hurt. You created Osama Bin Laden to serve your purpose, and this is something that the Americans have done very many times. Noriega was one of the people whom they created, and now they have arrested him and put him in jail for life. But Osama Bin Laden has caught the imagination of a lot of people. And the present leader of Hizbullah, Nasrallah, he’s not Osama Bin Laden’s man, but he fights in the same way, for the same reason. So there will be very many people whom we may call Osama Bin Laden also – people who are very angry and who have no other means of fighting except the way Osama fought. He may be killed one day, but it’s not going to stop the terrorist, the so-called terrorist attacks.

And, of course, another one-time great friend of America was Saddam Hussein. What do you think when you see him standing in the dock, in this very animated trial, which has been going on for many months now in Baghdad?

It is a farce. It is not a trial. It is a kangaroo court. If you are tried by your enemies, you can’t expect justice. If there is to be any trial, you have to have a neutral court – people who are not in any way involved or biased. Then there will be a fair trial. But here you see a trial by his prosecutors, who are also the judges. How can you expect any justice? There is no justice. All the forces which were kept under by Saddam, have now been released, and they will fight each other. There will be a civil war. I feel very sad about it, because they really should join together to fight the common enemy. And the common enemy is the US with its manipulation and Israel which is its proxy.

What do you see as the final solution in Palestine?

Well, I think, in the first place, if Israel wants to be recognized as a state, it should withdraw back to its borders. It should allow the Palestinians who were expelled to come back and to own their houses and their farms again. And then we will see a process of democracy working in Israel. And if it so happens that the Arabs win in any democratic elections – they must be allowed to rule Israel. You can call it Israel, but it may not be just the land of the Jews, because this is racism taken to the extreme – when you only allow one race to rule the country. . . . "
