Target practice

"A series of mortar bombs has hit Baghdad's Green Zone and smoke could be seen rising from buildings near the Iraqi parliament and government offices.
At least seven mortar rounds were counted, slamming into the Green Zone in the centre of the Iraqi capital on Thursday morning."

U.S. military: 14 troops killed in Iraq: Violence persisted in Baghdad, with a series of mortars or rockets slammed into the U.S.-controlled Green Zone, which houses the U.S. and British embassies and major Iraqi government headquarters — raising fresh concerns about the thousands of Americans who live and work in the heavily fortified area in central Baghdad.

A huge plume of black smoke rose from the sprawling complex on the west bank of the Tigris River and helicopters buzzed overhead after about nine blasts occurred in quick succession around 10 a.m.

At least one mortar round struck a parking lot used by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his security detail, an official from his office said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information.

The U.S. Embassy confirmed rounds of indirect fire, the military term for rockets or mortars, but said it did not have information about casualties.

“...Wednesday's confidential Situation Report over there said that the security office in Baghdad "reports 9 to 10 rounds of IDF" -- indirect fire, meaning mortar rounds or rockets -- "have hit the Embassy Baghdad compound. One round caused damage to the Embassy's north wing. There are no reported casualties.

"Further to Watch Alert 1241, Embassy Baghdad reports Ambassador Crocker's office window was damaged by one IDF round, sending shrapnel into his office. The Ambassador was in the room at the time of the attack, but there were no injuries."

We're told the windows were blown out and glass shards were in the office. But this, for Crocker, is par for the course

Draft Iraq oil law makes headway: A spokesman for Iraq's oil minister said he expected politicians to begin debating the draft law in the next few days.

Abu Ghraib Cover-up About to Explode: There is a high probability that investigation of the Abu Ghraib crimes and cover-up will lead upward to Donald Rumsfeld and his coterie of neoconservative aides and their shadow CIA run through the Department of Defense.

There is a substantial possibility this leads to the role of Alberto Gonzales on the range of torture issues at the Department of Justice and during his years as White House Counsel.

There is significant possibility this leads to Vice President Cheney, the most aggressive advocate of what the world considers torture of any senior official anywhere in the free world.

Iraqis water down the draft oil law: Passage of even a watered-down oil law would allow the Bush administration to point to some progress before the American military leadership reports to Congress on progress in the campaign to clamp off Iraqi violence.

The current bill calls for two accounts to be established — one in which revenues from oil exports would be deposited, and another involving customs and taxes.

The central government in Baghdad would take from the accounts what it needs to cover the national budget while the rest would be distributed among Iraqi governates and regions, according to the draft, which was posted on the Kurdish government's Web site.

The self-governing Kurdish region in northern Iraq would receive 17 percent of net revenue; other available funds would be distributed according to population elsewhere in the country "to meet the needs of the governates not organized as regions," the regional government said in a statement

Iraqis to Bush: “You have left us with nothing”
What have you done?
Not only have you smashed my country into tiny pieces.
Not only have you slaughtered my people.
Not only have you snatched my loved ones, my family, my friends, away from me.
Not only have you destroyed our homes.
Not only have you exiled thousands of us.
But you have also managed to shatter my memories, pull them out from their roots, like some unwanted weed.
You have managed to reach the only sacred place I had left.
The only place I had jealously safeguarded, secretly held in silence, lest you should find out about it.
But you even managed to penetrate that too.
Leaving me with nothing...
Leaving me with absolutely nothing but this pen and paper and a full moon staring coldly back at me.

Autopsy report of Barzan Ibrahim al-Hasan al-Tikriti - "The real cause of the death is the truncation of the head with a sharp instrument": Now a leaked autopsy report from the Iraqi ministry of Health shows that President Saddam Hussein's lawyers were right: Barzan Ibrahim Al-Tikriti was widely tortured and was beheaded while still alive. His head was very slowly slit with a sharp instrument whilst his body showed bruises from kicks.

WEXNER ANALYSIS: ISRAELI COMMUNICATION PRIORITIES 2003 - "For a year - a SOLID YEAR - you should be invoking the name of Saddam Hussein and how Israel was always behind American efforts to rid the world of this ruthless dictator and liberate their people. Saddam will remain a powerful symbol of terror to Americans for a long time to come. A pro-Israeli expression of solidarity with the American people in their successful effort to remove Saddam will be appreciated."

Palestine: Democracy Defeated: Israeli officials cannot imagine a more satisfactory scenario. The new experiment suggests that the West Bank will be lavished with aid and Gaza will be starved further. Baquba: ' A kill sack': Operation 'Arrowhead Ripper' is underway. A new America killing field is opening up. The victims are the residents of Baquba, captol of Iraq's Diyala governorate. As the killers move in, they are targetting, as ever, 'Al-Qaeda.' ...

This week there was an article about the deaths of Americans in Iraq 'and a terp'. What was a terp? Some animal mascot? No, it was an interpreter, prepared tor risk his life with and for them, but not even worthy of a title or name. Another statement which arose this week from the US military, regarding accidental deaths was: 'They are only Iraqis'. The whole of Iraq, just 'a kill sack'.

A river of corpses: Fishermen say their nets and hooks sometimes catch more corpses than fish. The former regime, in a bid to purge the river of any garbage, had erected a steel mesh close to the town of Suwaira. The mesh was cleaned every week.

But instead of unwanted materials which the mesh used to catch, it began seizing floating corpses. Scores of families visit the area regularly in the hope of collecting the corpses of loved ones who had gone missing without a trace.

Police sources say that in the area of Baghdad only they come across an average of 10 corpses a day.

New study from Pilots for 9/11 Truth: No Boeing 757 hit the Pentagon: Pilots for 9/11 Truth obtained black box data from the government under the Freedom of Information Act for AA Flight 77, which The 9/11 Report claims hit the Pentagon. Analysis of the data contradicts the official account in direction, approach, and altitude. The plane was too high to hit lamp posts and would have flown over the Pentagon, not impacted with its ground floor. This result confirms and strengthens the previous findings of Scholars for 9/11 Truth that no Boeing 757 hit the building.

FLASHBACK: In Defense of 'Chemical Ali': The accusation that Iraq has used chemical weapons against its citizens is a familiar part of the debate. The piece of hard evidence most frequently brought up concerns the gassing of Iraqi Kurds at the town of Halabja in March 1988, near the end of the eight-year Iran-Iraq war. ...

This much about the gassing at Halabja we undoubtedly know: it came about in the course of a battle between Iraqis and Iranians. Iraq used chemical weapons to try to kill Iranians who had seized the town, which is in northern Iraq not far from the Iranian border. The Kurdish civilians who died had the misfortune to be caught up in that exchange. But they were not Iraq's main target.

And the story gets murkier: immediately after the battle the United States Defense Intelligence Agency investigated and produced a classified report, which it circulated within the intelligence community on a need-to-know basis. That study asserted that it was Iranian gas that killed the Kurds, not Iraqi gas.

The agency did find that each side used gas against the other in the battle around Halabja. The condition of the dead Kurds' bodies, however, indicated they had been killed with a blood agent - that is, a cyanide-based gas - which Iran was known to use. The Iraqis, who are thought to have used mustard gas in the battle, are not known to have possessed blood agents at the time.

Interviews with Leuren Moret and Alfred Webre on International 9/11 Citizen’s War Crimes Tribunal: An unprecedented event is scheduled to take place Sunday, June 24, 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the Vancouver 9/11 Truth Conference. At this 9/11 Conference, Independent Scientist and world-renowned Uranium Weapons radiation expert, Leuren Moret, and International Lawyer Alfred Webre, J.D., M.Ed., will be calling publicly for the establishment of an International Citizen’s 9/11 War Crimes Tribunal.

The only disappointing aspect about this event is that 300 Million Americans will not be around to watch - and celebrate - this historical announcement, as it will be taking place in Canada. ...

... [T]he image of the war-making civilian-killers from Washington, in their designer suits and star-emblazoned, military-green uniforms, lifelessly dangling from the tallest old oak trees inside Lafayette Park, holds a certain fascinating - while undoubtedly macabre – appeal.

Well, if you stop to think about it for a moment, what punishment, would be just, proper, and fitting for such beasts-in-human-form-only who have, quite literally, knowingly, and radioactively contaminated not “only” several nations, but an entire planet for all eternity?

“So, the 9/11 Criminal War Crimes Tribunals can take its judgment and go to a national court in any progressive nation - be it Venezuela, be it Spain, Chile - that has a track record of pursuing war crimes and say, Look! You have this judgment. Go after these Defendants! And they can make life very uncomfortable for them. Even if George W. Bush is holed up in his in Paraguay 98,000 acre ranch… ya know, the law has a long arm and a long reach …

“We are implacable. We will not rest! We’re implacable! And you know what they say about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, right?”

I replied that no, I did not. I asked Alfred Webre to tell me.

“We always get our man”.

And if confidence, knowledge of the law, a combined 120 years of wisdom, (more or less) and an apparent limitless desire to ensure that justice is served is any indication of whether Leuren Moret and Alfred Webre will succeed in establishing the International Citizen’s 9/11 War Crimes Tribunals, one is inclined to believe that Moret and Webre will go down in history as being the team responsible for being able to “get their man”.

In addition to the quiet confidence of knowing they will be able to “get their man”, or rather, three men in particular, one suspects also that Moret and Weber will be known forevermore as the dynamic duo who exposed the entire clandestine black army of criminals responsible for 9/11 in this unthinkably brutal, unfathomably lawless, and unquestionably most “corrupt regime” in all world history.

Video, The Bases Are Loaded: Will the U.S. ever leave Iraq? Official policy promises an eventual departure, while warning of the dire consequences of a "premature" withdrawal. But while Washington equivocates, facts on the ground tell another story. Independent journalist Dahr Jamail, and author Chalmers Johnson, are discovering that military bases in Iraq are being consolidated from over a hundred to a handful of "megabases" with lavish amenities. Much of what is taking place is obscured by denials and quibbles over the definition of "permanent." The Bases Are Loaded covers a wide range of topics. Gary Hart, James Goldsborough, Nadia Keilani, Raed Jarrar, Bruce Finley Kam Zarrabi and Mark Rudd all add their observations about the extent and purpose of the bases in Iraq.
