Karbala blackout ... ما سبب أحداث كربلاء؟

"When a Shiite religious leader's phalanx was waved through a security cordon and into the Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala on Monday night, a crowd of rival militiamen grew incensed, sparking fighting that claimed the lives of at least 50 people and left parts of the holy city smoldering. The man at the center of it was [Ammar Al-Hakim] a soft-spoken 36-year-old cleric who has emerged this summer as the likely next head of the party that is the United States' most powerful political ally in Iraq.
There were also reported incidents two months ago when the visit of Ammar Al-Hakim to several cities in the south of Iraq, such as Al-Shatra, led to spontaneous attacks by the local residents on his motorcade that quickly sped off the scene.

"The prime minister [Al-Maliki] was asked by reporters to elaborate on his allegation that "foreign elements" played a role in the Karbala violence.
"We don't need any proof or evidence because these establishments . . . issued fatwas [religious edicts] calling for the destruction of the shrines of Imam Hussein and Abbas," Maliki said."

واوضح عقيل الخزعلي في مؤتمر صحفي مشترك عقد، ظهر الخميس، وحضره قائد عمليات كربلاء الجديد اللواء عثمان الغانمي ، ظهر الخميس، أن "ما حدث هو مخطط تقف وراءه دول اجنبية، تبغي تدمير المراقد المقدسة، وإحداث فوضى عارمة لقتل العراقيين."ـ
ونفى الغانمي ما تردد بأن مواجهات كربلاء كانت بين جيش المهدي ومنظمة بدر، وأوضح "هذه ليست الحقيقة، وإنما هناك مخطط كبير، إذ قبضنا على 42 شخصا أعترفوا بإنتمائهم إلى تنظيم القاعدة."ـ

ولقد سبق ذلك مصادمات أخرى عند زيارة عمار الحكيم لبضعة مدن في الجنوب، مثل الشطرة، والتي أدت الى الهجوم على موكبه وفراره على عجل (ويا حبذا لو يسعفني أحد القراء بمصدر هذا الخبر الذي أذكر قرائته قبل حوالي الشهرين) إضافة الى "حرب محتملة ضد آل الحكيم في الجنوب".ـ

ان الاضطرابات قد بدأت حين باشر انصار الصدر باطلاق هتافات يشتمون فيها عمار الحكيم الذي يتولى رئاسة المجلس الاعلى نيابة عن والده عبد العزيز الحكيم الذي يعالج في طهران حاليا من مرض السرطان ويطلقون هتافات ضد الحكيم الوالد وايضا منظمة بدر . . وعندها اغتاظ مسلحو الحضرة الحسينية ففتحوا النار على اتباع الصدر الذين كانوا عزلا من أي سلاح فقتل 7 منهم اضافة الى مقتل واصابة 20 زائرا."ـ

It was one of the rare (actually the second time in nearly three years of near daily postings) that I had to retract something.

As there were two brother presidents in the sixties when I was studying out of the country, the first was Abdul Salam Arif (killed in a helicopter crash) who was then succeeded by Abdul Rahman Arif. I was familiar with Abdul Salam's face, as he was the partner of Abdul Karim Qassem (1958 revolution and I left in 1961) but was not that familiar with that of his older brother Abdul Rahman who became president in the midsixties while I was in the US (there were no Al-Jazeera, CNN or Faux News at that time)..
The elder Abdul Rahman Arif died a few days ago at the age of 91. Al-Maliki issued a presidential condolence on the passing of Abdul Rahman Arif but unpresidentially put the picture of his brother Abdul Salam Arif in that condolence ..
Trying to ascertain that it is the wrong picture, I asked a trusted friend who confirmed that it is indeed that of Abdul Salam Arif and not of the recently deceased Abdul Rahman Arif.I searched Google for the picture of Abdul Rahman Arif and found only one with his name printed underneath it, and posted it.

However, that mislabeled picture turned out to be that of the eminent Abdul Rahman Al-Bazaz, Abdul Rahman Arif's prime minister at the time. I was not familiar with either of their faces. Hence, my apology (in Arabic above) and retraction..

PJAK and not uranium

It is noteworthy that the area concerned, especially that near the village of Hero, has very promising deposits of uranium, as recounted on page 56 of my book "Iraqs Nuclear Mirage: Memoirs and Delusions", excerpt:

- The target of the Iranians are PJAK fighters (Iranian Kurds who have launched attacks in Iran from Qandil).
- The "150" families who are displaced currently in Qaladiza did not flee as a reaction to this flier but because their villages were shelled, houses destroyed, livestock killed and orchard/agricultural product were burnt.
- If the Iranian troops would launch land/air attacks in the next few day, as mentioned in the flier, more than "5000" families in Hero, Halsho and Esewa sub-districts are expected to flee to Qaladiza, as stated by the Mayor.
- According to the displaced villagers whom I talked to, fighters are active in the mountainous areas far from the villages and not from inside their villages, yet the Iranian troops are shelling them nonetheless without discrimination."

Upon further investigation, it appears that the British had inserted a paragrpah in the infamous 1955 "Baghdad Pact" between the UK on the one hand and Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Pakistan on the other specifically giving the UK the right to explore and mine for uranium near Hero.

"A rumor is circulating among well-connected and formerly high-level Iraqi bureaucrats in exile in places like Damascus that a military coup is being prepared for Iraq. I received the following from a reliable, knowledgeable contact. There is no certitude that this plan can or will be implemented. That it is being discussed at high levels seems highly likely.
"There is serious talk of a military commission (majlis `askari) to take over the government. The parties would be banned from holding positions, and all the ministers would be technocrats, so to speak. . . [The writer indicates that attempts have been made to recruit cabinet members from the ranks of expatriate technocrats.]
The six-member board or commission would be composed on non-political former military personnel who are presently not part of the government OR the military establishment, such as it is in Iraq at the moment. It is said that the Americans are supporting this behind the scenes.
The plan includes a two-year period during which political parties would not be permitted to be part of the government, but instead would prepare and strengthen the parties for an election which would not have lists, but real people running for real seats. The two year period would be designed to take control of security and restore infrastructure

ان كنت أنا المقصود بحديث السيد وزير المالية فقد وقع في جملة من الأخطاء والرد عليها بكل بساطة كما يلي:ـ

Good riddance .. though they have not seen the end of their losses yet

"Last month Gordon Brown said after meeting George Bush at Camp David that the decision to hand over security in Basra province – the last of the four held by the British – “will be made on the military advice of our commanders on the ground”. He added: “Whatever happens, we will make a full statement to Parliament when it returns in October.”
Two generals told The Independent on Sunday last week that the military advice given to the Prime Minister was, “We’ve done what we can in the south of Iraq”. Commanders want to hand over Basra Palace – where 500 British troops are subjected to up to 60 rocket and mortar strikes a day, and resupply convoys have been described as “nightly suicide missions” (emphasis added) – by the end of August.
The withdrawal of 500 soldiers has already been announced by the Government. The Army is drawing up plans to “reposture” the 5,000 that will be left at Basra airport, and aims to bring the bulk of them home in the next few months. "
"In Britain, Gordon Brown's government has tried to depict a quiet process of handover to Iraqi troops in Basra, which will see the remaining forces in the city withdraw to the airport in November.

Is this the American way? Is this how Bush and company liberated IRAQ?
Yeah, it IS, for millions of Americans who could NOT care less about anyone in either their neighborhood, city, town, state and certainly NOT in any other country, in which they have never been and don't plan on ever being in.

وقال الدكتور منذر سليمان الباحث والمحلل في شؤون الأمن القومي بواشنطن ل”الخليج” إن الولايات المتحدة أصبحت تتصرف كأنها حكومة عالمية على الحكومات الأخرى، وهذا سيزيد من حقد وكره الشعوب والدول لها. واعتبر ذلك دليلاً على الافلاس الكلي، ومحاولة يائسة لحماية القوى الاحتياطية التي يستند إليها المشروع الأمريكي خاصة ما يسمونهم بالمعتدلين في المنطقة، ولاسيما في لبنان حيث استخدمت الولايات المتحدة الآلة العسكرية “الإسرائيلية” لتغيير ميزان القوى على الساحة اللبنانية، وعندما فشلت تلجأ الآن إلى إجراءات أقل ما يمكن وصفها ب”الجنونية”، وذلك في محاولة يائسة ومستميتة لحماية حكوة السنيورة ودعمها.
وتساءل سليمان: هل هذه محاولة لإرهاب من يجرأون على انتقاد الحكومة اللبنانية؟ واعتبر صمت الحكومة اللبنانية أمراً غريباً وتساءل هل اتخذت الولايات المتحدة هذه الاجراءات بناء على طلب حكوة السنيورة؟” واعتبر انه إذا لم يحدث هذا فهي مصيبة، وإذا حدث فالمصيبة أكبر."ـ

The action does not require congressional approval.

Michael Chossudovsky, professor of economics at the University of Ottawa, argued that the executive order in effect criminalized mere opposition to the war."

ـ"أعلنت الهيئة التأسيسية لحزب الحرية والعدالة الكردستاني العراقي في اجتماعها المنعقد في 1/7/2007 الموافق 16 جمادى الاخره 1428هـ في محافظة نينوى عن انتخاب السيد ارشد احمد الزيباري أمينا عاما للحزب وأصدرت البيان السياسي التالي:ـ
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

البيان السياسي
يا جماهير شعبنا العراقي
مهما حاولت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وحلفاؤها من إعطاء المبررات لاحتلال العراق فان ذلك يتنافى مع كافة القواعد القانونية والأعراف الدولية والأخلاقية والإنسانية ومهما حاول الإحتلال وأعوانه من تقسيم الشعب العراقي إلى أقسام وإظهار بعضها كأنه يرحب بالاحتلال فأن هذا مناف للمنطق والواقع فالأرض العراقية والشعب العراقي كله شريحة واحدة بكل أطيافه ومكوناته ولكنها الورقة الأخيرة تجاه شعبنا المجاهد حيث يحاولون التستر على فشلهم وإظهار ما يحدث في العراق كأنه صراعات طائفية وعقائدية وقومية هي حقيقة متأصلة في الشعب العراقي ولكن التاريخ والحاضر والمستقبل بأذن الله أحبطوا وسوف يحبطون ادعاءاتهم، فحقيقة ما يجري هو رفض كامل وجذري لوجود الاحتلال على ارض العراق الطاهرة ارض الأنبياء والأولياء.ـ
يا أبناء شعبنا المجاهد، إن المخططات التي يسعى لتنفيذها المستفيدون والأحزاب التي هي في حقيقتها مجموعة من الأشخاص والعوائل التي لا ترى إلا منافعها الشخصية، وهم يحاولون تفتيت النسيج العراقي وإيصال الساحة العراقية إلى صراع طائفي وحرب أهلية بين أبناء الشعب الواحد وإظهار المشكلة وكأنها نزاع على عائدية بعض المناطق أو المناصب، إلا أن المشكلة تكمن في هؤلاء الذين يحاولون تجزأة الشعب العراقي إلى أجزاء لها أهداف خاصة يسهل السيطرة عليها وتوجيهها ضمن مخططاتهم الخبيثة .ـ
فيا جماهير شعبنا العراقي الواحد، مهما تكن المخططات والأهداف المضادة فأن الواجب الديني والوطني والقومي يتطلب من كل عراقي له بعد نظر مقاومة هذه المخططات والعمل على إبطالها لان الاحتلال سوف ينتهي والشعب العراقي سيبقى بكل مكوناته، وعليه ندعو الشعب العراقي بالوقوف صفاً واحداً وإظهار حقيقته المتآخية وحتمية مصيره الواحد وليس كما تفعل بعض الأحزاب بالمتاجرة ببعض الحوادث التي هي في حقيقتها وليدة ظروف شاذة وإن كانت أخطاء فأنها ليست أخطاء متعلقة بنوايا أو أهداف مصيرية، فالنوايا الوحيدة والحقيقية بين أبناء الشعب العراقي تجاه بعضهم هي الأخوة والمصير الواحد.ـ
يا جماهير شعبنا الكردي
إن الكردي معروف بصفات شخصية يتميز بها هي الوفاء والصدق والإخلاص، وهو عنصر فاعل ومؤثر في أي بقعة يكون فيها على وجه الأرض ونحن كأكراد مسلمين عراقيين لنا تركة نعتز بها من المشاركات في التاريخ الإسلامي والعراقي لا تقل شأناً عن شركائنا في الوطن وتكمن في الذود عن قضايانا المشتركة، وهناك أمثلة وبراهين كثيرة كالقائد المسلم صلاح الدين الأيوبي الذي عمل على وحدة الإسلام وحرر بيت المقدس، والمجاهد الشيخ محمود الحفيد رحمه الله الذي امتزجت دماء مقاتليه مع العرب في منطقة الشعيبه للدفاع عن ارض العراق ضد الاحتلال الإنكليزي، والمقاتلون الأكراد الأبطال الذين دافعوا عن ارض العراق في جميع معاركه المصيرية، ولا تزال الدماء الكردية تمتزج مع دماء باقي العراقيين في ظل الاحتلال.ـ
وبناء على ما تقدم وإيماناً ُبالدور الوطني لشعبنا الكردي على الساحة العراقية ورفضاً لما تحاول بعض الشخصيات والأحزاب إشباعا لمنافعهم الشخصية بإظهار الأكراد وكأنهم مستفيدون من وجود الاحتلال ويحاولون قطع الجذور الإسلامية والعراقية للشعب الكردي ودفعه إلى مصير مجهول، فقد بادرت مجموعة من أبناء هذا الشعب المؤمن بانتمائه الإسلامي والعراقي والكردي إلى إنشاء كيان سياسي تحت مسمى(حزب الحرية والعدالة الكردستاني العراقي) يمثل كل أطياف المجتمع الكردي بعشائره ومثقفيه وعماله وفلاحيه وطلبته وكسبته والإعلان عن اعتزازهم بعراقيتهم ورفضهم القاطع لعزل الشعب الكردي عن باقي النسيج العراقي والعمل جنبا إلى جنب مع كل القوى الوطنية والإسلامية والتقدمية والقومية التي تقف بوجه المخططات الشريرة وتعمل من اجل تحرير العراق وبناء دولته على أسس ديمقراطية ووطنية يتمتع فيها شعبنا الكردي بكامل حقوقه القومية دون أية نواقص ووفقاً لضمانات دستورية تضمن ترسيخ الوحدة الوطنية بين أبناء الشعب العراقي.ـ
