Imad

And you think I'm exaggerating when I say, "the hate campaign against 'Obama/Osama the N*gger' is getting off to a nice early start"?

Read the appended e-mail, which was sent to us by a friend with ties to the U.S. Radical Religious Right, and tell me that Americans will ever elect a Black man like Barack Obama as President.

The lies and character assassination are starting in February, 2008. Just imagine what their effect will have been (remember, Americans don't know what the facts are and don't care, so all assertions like "Obama's name is really 'Osama' and he's really a Muslim even if he attends a Christian church", are equal in their eyes to the factual truth... this is a nation where 75% of the population believes in literal Genesis) by November, 2008.

That is, if poor old Barack lives to see that day. My bet is he won't; the Klansmen, the gun nuts, the anti-abortion nuts and the religious nuts are already picking a patsy or two to fire the fatal shot, then, like good old Lee Harvey Oswald, have a little "accident" the next day.

PS: Today Ralph Nader announced that he's running for President, again. Meaning, "yet another nail in the coffin of Democratic chances of winning the White House, via siphoning off just enough votes to throw dozens of states to the Republicans... just like Florida in 2000". Anyone want to bet how much secret Republican financing is showing up mysteriously in Nader's bank accounts? His vanity is so colossal that he can't see whose interests he's advancing... and that's just how Rove and his successors like it.

First, here is Obama on Hamas: ""All of us are concerned about the impact of closed border crossings on Palestinian families," wrote Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, in his letter to Khalilzad. "However, we have to understand why Israel is forced to do this. Gaza is governed by Hamas, which is a terrorist organization sworn to Israel's destruction, and Israeli civilians are being bombarded on an almost daily basis."

Then consider this: Obama and the Jews

Also this: Surging in Primaries, Obama Faces New Israel-related Criticism

Finally, from the above mentioned email:

"Who is Barack Obama?

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your
choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.
When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, 'He was once a Muslim, but that he also
attended Catholic school.'

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham,
introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Ch urch of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor will he show any reverence for our flag While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and louches."

A repeat posting -
Obama defiantly announces his candidacy for the NMWFYJP: Barack Obama has semi-publicly ('off the record', but with a transcript made available by his campaign!) announced (found via here) that he is running as a candidate for the No More Wars For the Jews Party (an announcement made in front of an Jewish audience in Cleveland). Of course, he had to reveal his candidacy in code, as the More Wars For the Jews Party, the party of McCain and Clinton, doesn't officially exist, and thus the No More Wars For the Jews Party can't exist either. For similar reasons, watch for the announcement to be ignored by the mainstream American media. [ . . . ]

Poll: Most Israelis back talks with Hamas

An open letter to Ehud Olmert Prime Minister of Israel, illustrious dear leader and reichsfuhrer extraordinaire: ... Mercy, don't you ever get tired of washing that Palestinian blood off your hands? Is there oil in Palestine? If there were, that could explain some of the Israeli atrocity. Wouldn't excuse any of the Israeli atrocity but, it could explain it.

You know, I really have a hard time figuring out why you and Israel have got to be so brutal with Palestinians. Mercy, you stuff them inside that Auschwitz the West Bank and the Gulag Gaza and, why is that? Have you no sense of simple human decency? Okay, so don't get me wrong here but, is it some kind of "Jewish" thing? I don't want that to sound 'anti-Semitic' now. I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is up with all the mindless brutality and the detaining of Palestinians and the torture. Is torturing Palestinian men, women, and children some kind of Israeli national sport? Now that would be harsh. Pretty darn inhumane if you know what I mean.

Gosh and you know, Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. Palestine isn't even yours or Israel's to do with however you seem to want to do whatever it is, you want to do with it. That make any sense to you? Sorry, I was stabbing at twisting a metaphor and it mostly turned out rambling and verbose. However, I could suppose not.

The freaking United Nations had NO right to cut the guts out of Palestine and give it to you and I couldn't give a flying fig seedling less what you or the world might think to the contrary. That little act of mindless diplomacy was as unjust as the day is long. So Jews got brutalized during WWII, the really "big one", and so what? It was, after all, a world war and what about Armenians and what about Russians and Stalin and what about Native Americans and white Americans and what about Black Americans and slavery? Jews are somehow "special?" Sorry, I'm thinking that Jews/Israelis aren't special or any different than say Palestinians. Or rude and snitty French and their pissy tasting wine. The entire freaking world needs to suffer because Nazis waxed horrific on Jews and it's OUR fault? Jews suffered horribly at the hands of Nazi Germany and it's the Palestinian's fault?

Okay, so I've probably waxed a mite longer than I intended and I've just got one last observation. Why did you and Israel cut Rachel Corrie in half with a bulldozer? My god man, that was one horrible thing to do! One wispy little girl and the IDF mows her down with a Caterpillar bulldozer? Yikes, Hud pal, talk about barbaric AND harsh.

And we pretty much don't care what George Bush would have to say. Bush is almost worse than you. Almost and probably any Iraqi or Afghan would dispute my observation and I wouldn't blame them a bit.

Obama reaches out to Jewish leaders in Cleveland on Sunday, Feb. 24
By Ami Eden of the Jewish Telegraphic Association (JTA)

"STAND BY YOUR ISRAEL:
"I will also carry with me an unshakable commitment to the security of Israel and the friendship between the United States and Israel".
"I pledge to make every effort to help Israel achieve that peace. I will strengthen Israel's security and strengthen Palestinian partners who support that vision and personally work for two states that can live side by side in peace and security with Israel's status as a Jewish state ensured so that Israelis and Palestinians can pursue their dreams. I also expect to work on behalf of peace with the full knowledge that Israel still has bitter enemies who are intent on its destruction. We see their intentions every time a suicide bomber strikes, we saw their intentions with the katusha rockets that Hezbollah rained down on Israel from Lebanon in 2006 and we see it today in the Kasams that Hamas fires into Israel every single day from as close as Gaza or as far as Tehran. The Defense cooperation between the United States to Israel has been a model of success and I believe it can be deepened and strengthened."

IRAN - ALL MILITARY OPTIONS ON THE TABLE, BUT LET'S TRY SOME AGGRESSIVE DIPLOMACY FIRST:

"Now the gravest threat as [U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.)] mentioned to Israel today I believe is from Iran. There a radical regime continues to pursue its capacity to build a nuclear weapon and continues to support terrorism across the region. President Ahmadinejad continues his offensive denials of the Holocaust and disturbing denunciations of Israel. recently referred to Israel as a deadly microbe and a savage animal. Threats of Israel's destruction can not be dismissed as rhetoric. The threat from Iran is real and my goal as president would be to eliminate that threat.
...
My approach to Iran will be aggressive diplomacy. I will not take any military options off the table. But I also believe that under this administration we have seen the threat grow worse and I intend to change that course."

Real Democracy and Freedom oozing out of that, eh?

Keep on honking, please
All the best

Disturbing New Photos From Abu Ghraib: VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. As an expert witness in the defense of an Abu Ghraib guard who was court-martialed, psychologist Philip Zimbardo had access to many of the images of abuse that were taken by the guards themselves. For a presentation at the TED conference in Monterey, California, Zimbardo assembled some of these pictures into a short video. Wired.com obtained the video from Zimbardo's talk, and is publishing some of the stills from that video here. Many of the images are explicit and gruesome, depicting nudity, degradation, simulated sex acts and guards posing with decaying corpses. Viewer discretion is advised.

Iraqi leaders veto law Bush administration hailed as political breakthrough: The rejected bill, which sets out the political structure for Iraq's provincial governments and establishes a basis for elections in October, was only the second of 18 U.S.-set political benchmarks that the war-tore nation needs to reach.

At the heart of the rejection of the provincial law is the question of whether Iraq will have strong provincial governors who answer only to their elected executive councils or if the federal prime minister will have a voice in their appointment and removal.

Anthony Cordesman, a Middle East expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., said the law is needed to define the roles of Iraq's provinces and of the central government and to set ground rules for any future discussion of creating a federation of Sunni and Shiite Muslim and Kurdish regions.

Alleged Hijacker Booked On Post-9/11 Flights: Astounding newly released FBI documents obtained via the Freedom Of Information Act show that alleged 9/11 hijacker Hamza Al-Ghamdi had booked future flights to San Francisco and Riyadh, suggesting that he was unaware of his eventual fate aboard United Airlines Flight 175, the plane that hit the World Trade Center's south tower.

The papers consist of a 300 page Federal Bureau of Investigation timeline (PDF link) that was used by the 9/11 Commission but not made public until now.

The 9/11 Commission failed to mention in its final report that Al-Ghamdi was booked onto several flights scheduled to take place after 9/11, including another flight on the very day of the attacks.

The fact that Al-Ghamdi had booked post-9/11 flights obviously gives rise to doubts about whether the alleged hijacker knew the 9/11 attack was a suicide mission and even brings into question if he was on the flight at all.

Disabuse Your Illusion: Weighing Obama in the Balance of Reality: Hope, said Emily Dickinson, is the thing with feathers, a tough little bird that sounds sweetest in the midst of a storm. It's a commonplace by now, but no less true, that Barack Obama's winged words of hope have borne him up to the high place where he stands now, on the threshold of the White House. And these words shine all the more brightly against the torrent of filth that the Bush Regime has rained down upon the American people for years. Thus it's no surprise that millions of people have been inspired by Obama – including a million who have put their money where their hope is, in the most remarkable grass-roots funding campaign in U.S. political history.

It can't be denied that an Obama presidency would be better in many respects than the Bush regime – if only for the replacement of the thousands of fanatics, cranks and witless apparatchiks with whom Bush has packed the federal bureaucracy. The ouster of these cadres will make an appreciable difference, on the ground, in the lives of many people. To cite just one instance, it is likely that an Obama administration (or a Clinton administration, for that matter) would restore the funding to family planning services and health clinics in the poorest regions of the world that Bush has maliciously – and murderously – cut off to please the religious extremists in his political base. That alone would save thousands of lives each year.

But to make this observation is not an endorsement of Obama's candidacy, nor a call for "lesser evilism." It's simply a statement of fact. As we've said here before, echoing Noam Chomsky, even small mitigations in the operation of vast power structures can translate into benefits – or alleviations of suffering – for substantial numbers of people. Again, this is an observable fact, not a value judgment. Whether these mitigations of injustice and suffering in certain instances outweigh the cost of participating in – and thereby to some extent legitimizing and perpetuating – a system that inevitably produces injustice and suffering on a massive scale is a question that each person must decide for themselves, in their own individual conscience.

And this question is certainly pertinent in the case of Barack Obama. For by the choices he has made in picking advisers to help him shape his policies, he has given every indication that while his presidency might represent a better management and presentation of the current system, it will in no way overturn or even seriously challenge it on any essential point. In other words – and bearing in mind the type of not-insubstantial mitigations noted above – he will keep doing what Bush has been doing, only more competently, less radically, with a greater care for the long-term viability of the power structure. And what is that structure that Obama seeks to refine and extend? It is an imperial system based on militarism and the exaltation of elitist profit and privilege above all other concerns.
[ . . . ]

P.S.
The above is posted for all of us trying to find our way through the political/moral morass and is in recognition of the thoughtful "clear eyed" blogger.

Consequence of colonialism: NOW that the UN commissioned Dugard report has made a clear distinction between “acts of mindless terror” like those committed by Al Qaeda and “acts committed in the course of a war of national liberation against colonialism, apartheid or military occupation”, the international community has all but run out of excuses to allow Israel to continue with its blatant violation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, especially the Hamas held Gaza Strip.

Already, things stand at the worst for the Palestinian people, facing daily Israeli attacks despite Washington’s so-called peace moves in November. It was pointed out by regional stakeholders at the time of the Annapolis conference that the meeting would amount to little more than a photo op for the participants, and Israel would waste little time in resuming settlement expansion and Palestinian persecution as soon as cameras made their way elsewhere. And that is exactly what has happened.

An invention called 'the Jewish people'

Barack Obama’s Israel Bond: ... Obama praised Israel’s most recent invasion of Lebanon, the pro-Israel tilt on Capital Hill, and his quest for Israel to remain a Jewish State.

“[Any] negotiated peace between Israelis and the Palestinians is going to have to involve the Palestinians relinquishing the right of return as it has been understood in the past,” he averred. “And that doesn’t mean that that there may not be conversations about compensation issues.”

How gracious, but what does Obama plan to do with the over 1.4 million non-Jewish Arabs that live in the country? ...

Barack Obama won’t confront this reality, nor will he end Israel’s violent incursions into the occupied territories or halt the US military threats toward Iran. The Obama campaign may pledge to bring “hope” and “change” to the White House, but when it comes to what the Democratic frontrunner calls our “special relationship” with Israel, that promise is an out-and-out lie.

And I quote (pg 7) . . .
Virtuous Destruction, Decisive Speed: Our unwillingness to create a psychological atmosphere of defeat also guarantees us that, if we wish the object population to continue to behave, our troops will have to
remain on the scene for years—perhaps decades. America’s military can afford the costs of war, but not the ever-rising costs of one flawed peace after another. First whittled down and now devoured by occupation duties, from South Korea (still) to Afghanistan and the Balkans, then on to Iraq, we have robbed our strategic reserve in order to deploy sufficient babysitters with bayonets. Gulliver is presently tied to the ground by the Lilliputians.

How much physical destruction is required to bring conflict X to a decisive conclusion? Again, there is no easy answer. In particularly oppressive states, a thorough, graphic destruction of the military and security apparatus may suffice. When faced with hostile populations, far more destruction may be required to achieve our goals and insure that the achievement will last.

Even the notion that we must preserve the enemy’s infrastructure is often misguided. Such a policy not only complicates the achievement of victory, but extracts no serious price from the population. Consequences matter. Enemy populations must be broken down to an almost childlike state (the basic-training model) before being built up again. But war cannot be successfully waged—especially between civilizations, as is
overwhemingly the case at present—without inflicting memorable pain on the enemy.

I could get some of the items you sent, but not all. Nonetheless, what the Brits did is essentially what the US did in Iraq and wherever they both are in the Middle East. I was appalled at the shortsightedness of the comments by the British People. They, who have been through wars "close up" sound like US people who think war is o.k. no matter what kind of tortures our military does. It is a sad day in the world when the Imperialists and Colonialists seem to have TEMPORARILY WON the ability to ABUSE SOVEREIGN LAWS AND INTERNATIONAL LAWS.
One consolation: what goes around, comes around.
