Corporate Genocide - Result of 5 years of occupation

.
On the occasion of the fifth bitter anniversary of the occupation of Iraq:

This is Nofa's sentiment five years ago (January 2003) on America's bringing of Democracy to the Iraqi people that she refers to in the above article.

These are three previous articles by Nofa before and after the occupation.
.

PS: From an email by a friend, Kamil Al-Adhadh, March 21 2008

"Dear Dr. Imad,
Though I enjoyed your interview with AlJezzera, Nofa`s sensuous articles grabbed me with admiration and surprise, not only for their eloquence, but also for the patriotic zeal and linguistic excellence, given her unfolding age. She is definitely a talented and essentially noble Iraqi girl, no matter what new nationality she may acquire now. I congratulate her and, of course, you , because she is your breed and the offspring of your cultivation.

My comments on the interview is that the invaders did what they did because vested interests surpass any ethics or concepts of justice. Yet, the greatest felony falls on the state of disintegration of our society, and the despicable quality of the new politicians; these conditions existed before the invasion, so when it came, the arena was ready for the monsters to reign! Best wishes."

Comments:
Obama's Whitewash: ... Obama has fully embraced the lies at the heart of mythologized America -- an embrace that is underscored by his inclusion of this phrase: "a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam." In this manner, Obama confirms that he will continue our policy of global interventionism including our endless interventions in the Middle East, which have been unceasing ever since World War I. ...

PATRIOTIC AMERICANS TAKE TO THE STREETS

Why Did the US Invade Iraq?: According to a 1996 paper drafted by prominent hard-line neoconservatives ... ousting Hussein and installing a pro-Western leader was the key to destabilizing Israel's Arab enemies and/or bending them to its will. This would permit the Jewish state not only to escape the Oslo peace process, but also to secure as much of the occupied Palestinian (and Syrian) territories as it wished.

Indeed, getting rid of Hussein and occupying Iraq would not only tighten Israel's hold on Arab territories, in this view; it could also threaten the survival of the Arab and Islamic worlds' most formidable weapon against Israel – OPEC – by flooding the world market with Iraqi oil and forcing the commodity's price down to historic lows.

That's how it looked five years ago anyway.

Hans Blix slams Iraq war as 'tragedy'

Imad,
After 5 gruesome years of bush's illegal and deadly occupation of Iraq, I, a former military G.I., wish to express my deepest sorrow and regret to you and all Iraqis for what the US gov't. has done to the country, people, and all inhabitants of Iraq. I trained for war in the military, but never cheered it on nor wanted it. I had clearance to handle some nuclear weapons and dreaded the day they ever went "live". The US gov't is a rogue gov't, complete with creeping fascism. This, I'm sure, isn't news to you. Most US citizens are clueless to critical thinking and sound reasoning abilities and are as sheep. I hope all evil doers find a special hell where they may be tormented for all time, for the evil that they do. Bush and Cheney ranks right up there with the worst of them. Their torment cannot be severe enough.

A war of utter folly: Responsibility for this spectacular tragedy must lie with those who ignored the facts five years ago

Take off the masks: Rabbis say no mercy should be shown to Arab killers, but what about Jewish murderers?

One cannot but recall the Jew who entered the Islamic college in Hebron armed with a machinegun and murdered three students. He was sentenced to life in prison and later pardoned by the president. Today he is known as a rabbi and publishes articles. And we have not forgotten the Jewish murderer who killed seven Arab laborers at the Gan Havradim junction in 1990. So take off the masks.

... [T]his is what Tana Devei Eliyahu (parasha 26) has to say about this:

“A man must distance himself from theft, whether from Jew or Gentile, or anyone in the marketplace. One who steals from a Gentile will ultimately steal from a Jew. One who defrauds a Gentile will ultimately defraud a Jew. One who swears falsely to a Gentile will ultimately swear falsely to a Jew. One who lies to a Gentile will ultimately lie to a Jew. One who sheds the blood of a Gentile will ultimately shed the blood of a Jew. ... .”

Crusading Terrorism: How Canada and America Terrorized the Citizens: According to Paul Craig Roberts (“What do we stand for?”), the Bush administration kept 774 “the world most dangerous terrorists” at Guantanamo Bay prison, but all have been released secretly, only 6 are being tried in a military tribunal including two children, and that America paid $25,000 each to Afghan warlords to purchase the terrorists and validate the terrorist threat perceived in the war on terrorism. The pursuit of the war represents the corporate interests and making bonded terrorists as the means to support the American war games against the destitute humanity across the globe. In a new age of reason, quest for global peace and respect for human rights and dignity, one would hope that American leaders should learn from the living history, and Canadian leadership would not follow those who held gospel in one hand and used the other democratic hand to put the whole humanity to the flames of Two World Wars and continued to do so in Iraq and Afghanistan. Search for oil, stable dollar and Bush “war on terrorism” could make America a candidate for self-defeat and self-destruction and soon to be replaced as superpower by the natural process of historical change. Political power is a transitory phenomenon, and every BEGINNING has its END. There are no Islamic states and no Islamic terrorism challenging America or any other Western nations. It is a political myth crafted for global business and strategic domination and to incite emotions and mislead the North American masses against Islam. No religion teaches hatred and terrorism, humans do by their own ignorance and arrogance. ...

(Thank you to Dr. Khawaja, a new friend in a far away place, for your patient humanity.)

Wayne Madsen Report (entire) -
March 20, 2008 -- Pope will have evidence of torture flights when he sees Bush in Washington: Pope Benedict XVI will have details of the CIA's rendition torture flights at his disposal when he visits Washington, DC next month. It is not known whether the Pope will confront Bush administration about its use of kidnapping and torture flights but WMR has learned that details of the flights have been passed to the Vatican via the Internet.

Included in the details sent to the Vatican are the recent flight itinerary of a Beechcraft 350 that flew from Brno in the Czech Republic via Stavanger, Norway and Keflavik, Iceland, to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Vatican circles have been reminded by clergy rank and file that when the Pope visits Bush on the occasion of the Pope's 81st birthday, he will be hosted by an individual who condones torture. Also being discussed is the issue of Laura Bush, betrothed in a Christian marriage to a master of torture. It is hoped by some Catholic prelates that the Pope will raise the issue of torture and torture flights with both George and Laura Bush during their meeting in Washington.

Truncating the Antecedents: How Americans Have Been Misled about World War II: Time, some wit has said, is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once. Taking this idea to heart, we may remind ourselves and others that whenever the U.S. government launches a new war abroad, we would be well advised to look into what happened in that part of the world previously, perhaps over the course of several decades. We may well discover that the locals have legitimate grievances against our government or some of its corporate cronies. Or we may simply discover that the situation is more complicated than it has been made out to be. We know one thing for certain at the outset, however: we cannot rely on the government to tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Unvarnished truth is to our rulers as holy water is to vampires. (emphasis added)

One Hand Worth of Fingers: How the USA Lingered in IRAQ for Five Years!

[ . . . ]
One of the most important reasons why the US occupation forces were able to remain in IRAQ for five years was the corrupt Iraqi collaborators, be they, Moslem, Christian, Kurd, Iranian or Athuri (Assyrians), who provided the occupiers with information on every matter related to Iraqis: their habits, language, their location and movement, and their likes and dislikes. As soon as these corrupt collaborators disappear or cease their assistance of US forces, the US occupation, along with its multiple bases, will disappear as well.

The disturbing role of Arab governments in the Gulf States (mainly Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates [UAE] and Saudi Arabia), Egypt and Jordan is another factor in the success of this warmonger campaign. From Kuwait and the UAE, US planes and ground forces entered IRAQ to bomb and murder. We, Iraqis, hold these countries’ governments responsible for the bloodshed they supported.

In this fifth anniversary of destruction, lust, deception, robbery, torture and murder, the enemies are still discontented. In this month of March, the US army is coordinating with Iran’s Badr militia and the Kurdish Peshmerga a severe attack on the primarily Arab city of Mosul similar to attacks carried out in Fallujah and Ramadi in previous years. They plan an assault on Mosul in a few days and not one international media source is disclosing and discrediting this murderous plan. They will wait until people are killed and then cover the massacre. The media will tell the world that the “liberators” are cleansing Mosul of al-Qaeda, but the truth is that they are ridding Mosul of its Arab population and courageous resistance. This is part of a Western conspiracy against Arabs and their resistance to occupation. A source in the Green Zone disclosed this plan to the Iraqi Rabita. This attack on Mosul was to take place earlier this year, but the Turkish bombing of and incursions into Kurdistan delayed it few weeks. [ . . . ]

The Iraqi resistance is alive and kicking hard and well. Despite the different agendas of the various groups, it has inflicted heavy losses on the invaders; so heavy that the US government dares not disclose the real number of dead and wounded, which is at least double the official number.

It is time that the narcissistic, racist, materialistic, ignorant and arrogant US government and public realize that IRAQ will never be divided, and that the US Empire will face its deterioration, if not its demise, in IRAQ.

PATRIOTISM OR BRAINWASHING? It is accepted that the U.S. now is by far the most powerful military entity the world has ever seen. It is also accepted and called "war" that the U.S. can, with hi-tech equipment, bomb and destroy small countries that offer no military resistance. Bombing from 50,000 feet is considered heroic. Killing civilians is heroic. ...

The U.S. is now producing a generation of youngsters who think that ongoing deadly attacks against innocent people of militarily weak countries is normal. They see it on television, in their games, in their attire, and on the baseball field. And the U.S. used to lambaste the Soviet Union for its use of propaganda.

The final battle for Basra is near, says Iraqi general

Five Years and Counting: A Milestone on America's Long March Into Hell: We've all seen a blizzard of articles noting the five-year anniversary of the act of aggression launched against Iraq at the order of George W. Bush. There have been great slag-heaps of mendacity among these commemorations -- none more foul than the stinking torrent of lies that poured forth through the blood-flecked teeth of Bush himself on Wednesday -- but also some excellent analyses of the true situation in Iraq in this fifth year of hell.

The latter include the series of text and video reports from Baghdad by Iraqi journalist Ghaith Abdul-Ahad. (The latest piece is here. The whole series can be found here.) Another noteworthy witness is Patrick Cockburn. His latest story focuses on the use of deliberate lies "often swallowed whole by the media and a thousand times repeated, which cumulatively mask the terrible reality of Iraq." ...
[ . . . ]

I must demur slightly from Cockburn here. I believe there is very little if any self-deception about Iraq on the part of Bush, Cheney, Tony Blair (or his replacment puppy, Gordon Brown). The mendacity that has characterized their every statement about the conflict throughout its duration has been deliberate, conscious, knowing, and willful. When they go to bed at night, they know they have lied about the war. When they look in the mirror, they know they have lied about the war. ...

... As an American, one can only echo the words of Senator Robert Byrd five years ago, when this flawed and conflicted man rose as one of the very few in the entire political establishment to condemn Bush's Hitlerian action: "Today, I weep for my country."

Wayne Madsen Report -
March 20, 2008 -- Our "democracy walls" China had its "Democracy Wall" on Xidan Street in Beijing where pro-democracy advocates posted their tracts during the "Beijing Spring" of 1978. Pro-democracy advocates also established their own Democracy Wall in Kathmandu in 1990.

In the 1980s, human rights activists began painting slogans and art on the western wide of the Berlin Wall. After the overthrow of the East German Communist regime, paintings also appeared on the eastern side of the wall.

Yesterday, there were anti-war protests in Washington, DC and cities around the country and world. After participating in several anti-war and anti-Bush regime marches and protests during the past seven years, many of the memorabilia collected at those events has collected on this editor's own "mini-democracy wall." "Mini" because these souvenirs of the struggle against the Bush-Cheney regime and their war have collected on the side of my refrigerator.

It may be a unique sign of our troubled times that a number of Americans have created "altars" for democracy and against Bush fascism in our kitchens but generally hidden from the prying eyes of Bush's Homeland Security Gestapo and other political correctness enforcers.

Bravo Imad to you and your daughter who quite brilliantly elucidates the position of Iraq and Iraqis then and now. Nothing has changed for the better and much has gotten much worse. What can I say.

It was great to see you on Al Jazeera, Imad. I am currently moderating a lecture series on the Middle East for a Senior Citizens group at the University of Dayton. Each week I have invited different speakers who have expertise on certain aspects of the Middle East. Today was the first class taught by a professor of History at a local university. We had 64 people sign up for the class. The learners were eager to hear what the good Doctor Halabi had to say and they had many questions for him. They were like sponges soaking up the facts of the history of the Middle East from WW1 to the Palestine/Israeli conflicts. Iraq was touched up briefly as there are 2 more classes that will speak about the abominations committed upon Iraq. I say all this to say: the propagandized Americans want real and true knowledge about what has happened and they want the U.S. OUT OF IRAQ NOW! I am hopeful that these Senior Citizens, at the end of six weeks, will be outspoken advocates for opposition to our continued occupation of your native country. That is my goal.

Al Jazeera came up today in class and I just happened to remember the internet address and wrote it on the blackboard for the class to copy. I hope they tune in and listen to this program you sent. I will present it to them next Thursday. Thank you so much. Best wishes to you and your daughter and family!
