The usurpers of the US$

Rarely do I trangress into financial matters, but the US financial meltdown deserves a posting, and it was the Iraqi Resistance that spelled the doom of the US empire in the Middle East.

Right; "non-reviewable" supremacy.
Congress, of course, is more than eager to abdicate whatever little authority they have left. They're infinitely grateful for their purely ceremonial role, the equivalent of Caligula's horse, albeit, with considerably less dignity. Has even one senator spoken out against this madness, which--according to informal internet polls--is resoundingly rejected by the voters? Does it concern the members of congress at all, that the present financial crisis was brought on by the proliferation and sale of trillions of dollars of mortgage-banked garbage which were fraudulently represented as Triple A rated bonds by the very same people who now claim to need unprecedented and dictatorial powers to fix the problem? Or are they more worried that the steady torrent of contributions which flows from Wall Street to congressional campaign coffers will be inconveniently disrupted if they fail to ratify this latest assault on democratic governance? The House of Representatives is one big steaming dungheap that should be leveled and turned into an amusement park instead of a taxpayer-funded knocking shop. What a pathetic collection of cowards and scumbags."

Once, they were Democrats, until Ronald Reagan with his virulent hatred of communism and Soviet Russia (“Now we shall bomb Moscow”) hired them to win the ideological Cold War. The Neocons, the red-diaper babies, switched sides, betrayed the ideals of their fathers, and brought down the Left movement that got used to rely upon Jews.

And deadly spies
The below (in Arabic) is an example of how the American Intelligence did manage to infiltrate the Al-Qaida in Iraq by successfully planting spies in its organiztion who were supposed to be Arab fighters who have come to join the fight against the American occupiers. One such spy is Abu Aqil who is suppsed to be Saudi and who speaks with an impeccable Saudi accent. He rose in the Al-Qaida security ranks to ultimatly become in charge of Al-Qaida security in Al-Anbar province in 2006 and especially after the killing of Al-Zarqawi. It was during Abu Aqil's reign that the Al_Qaida's attacks on Iraqi Resistance commanders increased dramatically. Many of these Resistance leaders were senior military commanders or tribal sheikhs, a fact which directly inflamed the antagonism against the Al-Qaida and resulted in its rejection by the people in Al-Anbar and the rise of the Sahwa mercenaries.
Then suddenly, Abu Aqil dissapeared.
A few months later, he re-appeared in Al-Anbar, but this time as a translator for the American army. He led them to ferret out the Al-Qaida fighters that he had earlier commandeered to kill the Iraqi Resistance commanders.
It appears that Abu Aqil is in fact an Iraqi from the southern city of Samawa, which is close to the Saudi border and had thus picked up the Saudi accent. He fled to Saudi Arabia after the 1991 war and remained in the refugee camps there until he was picked up by the Americans, sent to the US and was returned to Iraq to infiltarate the Al-Qaida and then deployed as a translator, fulfilling the double role of hitting the Iraqi Resistance and then turn on the Al-Qaida.

Iraqi contemporary writers' prize ... ثلاثة بحوث تفوز بجائزة الدراسات العراقية المعاصرة - 2008

ـ"أعلنت لجنة جائزة الدراسات العراقية المعاصرة في لندن هذا اليوم البحوث الفائزة الثلاث للعام 2007- 2008 وهي
ـ1. د. امجد صباح الأسدي - رئيس قسم الدراسات الاقتصادية - مركز دراسات الخليج العربي جامعة البصرة: "عقود بديلة لاتفاقيات المشاركة بالانتاج لتطوير القطاع النفطي في العراق".ـ
ـ2. د.عدنان ياسين مصطفى - بيت الحكمة - بغداد : " المجتمع العراقي: الأمن الإنساني على مفترق طرق - دراسة تحليل سوسيولوجي". ـ
ـ3. د. وداد يونس يحيى - جامعة الموصل : " دور النظام المصرفي العراقي في دعم التنمية الاقتصادية - الواقع و التطلعات". ـ

وكان التحكيم الأولي للدراسات المشاركة في حزيران، هذا العام، قد أعلن إدراج خمس دراسات من أصل 13 جرى تقديمها. وتتكون الجائزة من ثلاث منح تقديرية سنويا بمجموع 5000 يورو ، من رصيد خاص خصص سنويا من قبل الروائية هيفاء زنكنة ومستشار تطوير التعليم منذر الأعظمي.ـ
ـ... وتنبـّه اللجنة الباحثين في داخل الوطن الى أنها مستمرة في تلقي إنتاجاتهم لدورتها لعام 2008-2009 حتى أول آذار المقبل، وهي تشهد توسعا في المهتمين بهذا الشأن إذ بلغ عدد الدراسات المقدمة 11 قبل خمسة شهور من الموعد المحدد. ـ
