The Western media these days are filled with frothing-mouth condemnations of the fact that the only Libyan terrorist convicted for the 1988 Lockerbie Pan Am bombing is about to be released by the Scottish government as a "compassionate measure", since he apparently has terminal cancer. Accompanied with Western eulogies of self-congratulation for this magnanimity, there are endless ravings about the cruelty of this terrorist incident (which -- let me say for the record -- cruel it undoubtedly was) and the "fact" that the Pan Am 103 bombing was "completely unprovoked", a "deliberate, calculated act of terrorism, with no justification whatsoever".

Really!

Have a look at the following article from Wikipedia regrading Iran Air Flight 655, about an American shoot-down of a clearly marked Iranian civilian airliner, some four months before the Lockerbie incident -- there is widespread, and I believe very well-justified, belief among military and terrorism analysts, that the Pan Am 103 attack, was retaliation for the Iran Air 655 atrocity.
Note especially the famous comment by Bush the Elder, specifically, "I'll never apologize for America, no matter what the facts are".

Of course, to Americans -- for whom, the details of the Iran Air 655 incident were kept carefully concealed by the mainstream media (note in particular how the internal U.S. Navy investigation report has still not been fully released, and the few snippets that were made public, were released years later) -- it's perfectly OK for brown, Muslim civilians to be slaughtered by SM-2 "Standard" missiles, but it's not OK for white, Christian civilians to be slaughtered by a hidden package of Semtex/C-4.

And, you know, with all the fury being directed at this dying Libyan terrorist, for his (real) crimes... why isn't U.S. Navy Captain William C. Rogers III of the Vincennes, also in jail for life, for "crimes against humanity"? Ah, but America's different, you see. American's brave Navy captains, sitting in their high-tech floating bunkers, get to kill civilians, and instead of ending up in prison, they get a "Legion of Merit" medal, and a nice, fat, pension, while the Average American proudly salutes them on Memorial Day.
 

Lockerbie justice, in part: If the families of the victims are angry that an inn0cent man has been set free, they should be angry at the prosecutors and police, doing the dirty work to protect the CIA. By avoiding proceedings that would show that the trial was a sham, the authorities have cleverly left the blame with Libya and Megrahi, and protected the real culprits. Instead of playing along with the lying Official Story, the families of the victims should be demanding an official examination of the travesty of a trial. Megrahi and Libya were framed. So who blew up the plane?

Israel’s foreign ministry is reported to be establishing a special undercover team of paid workers whose job it will be to surf the internet 24 hours a day spreading positive news about Israel.

Internet-savvy Israeli youngsters, mainly recent graduates and demobilised soldiers with language skills, are being recruited to pose as ordinary surfers while they provide the government’s line on the Middle East conflict.

“To all intents and purposes the internet is a theatre in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and we must be active in that theatre, otherwise we will lose,” said Ilan Shturman, who is responsible for the project.

The existence of an “internet warfare team” came to light when it was included in this year’s foreign ministry budget. About $150,000 has been set aside for the first stage of development, with increased funding expected next year.

Rona Kuperboim, a columnist for Ynet, Israel’s most popular news website, denounced the initiative, saying it indicated that Israel had become a “thought-police state”.

She added that “good PR cannot make the reality in the occupied territories prettier. Children are being killed, homes are being bombed, and families are starved.”

The problem with U.S.-sponsored elections in Asia and elsewhere in the non-Western world, as in Afghanistan Aug. 20, is that they are sponsored by the United States primarily to legitimize its own presence in the country.

The new administration’s under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, Judith A. McHale, met a group of Pakistani journalists, including Ansar Abbasi, an important commentator critical of U.S. policy. She spoke warmly of U.S.-Pakistani relations, and Abbasi politely listened, thanking her for coming. He then, according to McHale afterward, said, "You should know that we hate all Americans. From the bottom of our souls, we hate you."

Under Secretary McHale also reported that Abbasi went on to explain that Americans "are no longer human beings because (their) goal was to eliminate other humans." He said that "thousands of innocent people had been killed because (Americans) are trying to find Osama bin Laden."
